Description:
This interactive course is in movie format. This course is excellent for occupational and physical therapists, Orthotists, COTA’s, and PTA’s evaluating, treating, and making splint recommendations for the hand and arm. Instructional methods include: PowerPoint, lecture, and demonstration. The splints are fabricated slowly and up close so you can view perfectly on your screen. This is the BEST way to take a splint course - you will be able to watch over and over again and learn the details from splinting experts. This is an intermediate level course. Note: This course provides conceptual preparation to seek additional training, and does not provide you a mentored hands-on skills session. Please seek additional experience, with a mentor, to perform hands-on skills. Upon Successful completion of the examination (75%) your certificate will be sent via email.
Objective:
Recognize how to effectively splint the stiff hand and wrist.with a variety of techniques
Recognize static progressive -vs- dynamic splinting concepts and principles
View fabrication of a variety of static progressive splints
Identify a variety of marketplace static progressive splints available
Identify tips, tricks and techniques to make challenging splinting simple.
Outline:
Composite finger flexion (regain a fist)
Static Progressive ClikStrip MP Flexion
Marketplace splints to increase finger ROM
Dynamic ClikStrip Wrist Flexion and Extension (get the wrist moving)
Static Progressive PIPJ Extension (get rid of the contractures) and other ways to skin the cat!
