Description:
The wrist is commonly encountered in the clinic both directly and indirectly. To provide the highest quality of care for patients with wrist dysfunction thorough knowledge is needed. This interactive movie course is designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of the wrist evaluation and treatment. The therapist will learn the pertinent anatomy and biomechanics as it applies to evaluation and treatment. Emphasis will be on proper interpretation of special tests, manual therapy, connective tissue healing and treatment techniques. Mixed level learning course - Instructional Methods include PowerPoint presentation, lecture, and video to enhance understanding. Upon successful completion of the examination (80%) your certificate will be sent via email. Mixed level course
Objectives:
Review pertinent osteology, mycology and neurology of the wrist
Describe the TFCC
Discuss joint arthrokinematics of the wrist
Review connective tissue healing and its impact on decision making in treatment
Review visco-elastic properties of connective tissue as it relates to splinting the wrist joint
Become familiar with special examination tests of the wrist and their proper interpretation
Review therapeutic techniques at the wrist
View manual therapy of the wrist including mobilization
Review the arthrokinematics of the wrist joint in making correct decisions regarding wrist mobilization
Indroduce the most common fractures and avascular necrosis problems at the wrist
Describe the various instabilities at the wrist;CID,CIND,DISI,VISI
Review the more common wrist diagnosis in the context of the course contents pulling it all together
Adjunctive DVDs available for some courses for an additional fee. Call 727-560-5552 for details
